WHAT TO EXPECT
What is Video
Video Therapy is exactly as it sounds. It is simply therapy delivered via video conferencing. The advantages to doing video therapy versus traditional therapy is that the barriers to treatment are broken down - it cuts out transportation time and costs. Clients no longer need to sit in traffic (or worse, stand on a sweaty BART train) to get the help that they need. Clients can receive services from the comfort of their own home. In addition, clients can now see any therapist that they want across California! The Therapist-Client relationship is the single most important factor in therapy. Clients are no longer stuck seeing just the therapists in their area and they have a higher chance of finding someone they really connect with. How cool is that?
First Step - Consultation
I provide a free 15 minute consultation via phone in order to discuss your needs, how teletherapy works, fees, and answer any questions you might have. If it seems like a good fit for both sides, we will go ahead and schedule an initial session.
Before the Initial Session
You will receive an e-mail reminder with the link for the video session. Please click the link at the time of your session. Please note, if you are using a tablet or mobile device, you will be required to download the Simple Practice application (it's free!)
We will complete a more thorough assessment of your current needs as well as some of your history. We will also get to know each other during this time. If it is a good fit for both of us, we will schedule another session. I recommend attending 50 minute therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
I require that payment be made on the day of the appointment. I accept debit and credit card payments through Simple Practice, the application that enables us to do teletherapy. I currently do not accept insurance but I can provide a bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Sliding scale accommodations are provided but they are evaluated on a case by case basis.
If you cannot make it to your appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, I will charge 100% of my fee for that missed session.
I understand that emergencies happen and things come up unexpectedly. These situations will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
